Include a Tweet Button is practically a necessity if you want to see increased traffic from Twitter. If your followers are able to easily share your content on Twitter with a single click of a button, they are more likely to do it. And this means your content will quickly spread throughout the network, reaching potentially thousands of people in a matter of minutes.
But there are other ways to increase Twitter traffic to your website, too. For instance, why not try creating a Twitter landing page? This is a page that you link to from your Twitter profile (and one that you can tweet out from time to time) that is designed specifically for your Twitter followers. It should explain a bit about who you are and what your website is all about, as well as highlight some of your most recent or most retweeted tweets. This acts as a nice transition for those who might know your Twitter persona but have no idea about your website.
Of course, one of the simplest ways to get Twitter visitors to your site is to be sure to include your URL in your Twitter bio. You’d be surprised at how many people forget this!
Another less tangible way to drive Twitter traffic is to find out who your influencers are and focus some additional attention on them. They’re already tweeting your content, but if you engage them, retweet them and visit their profile, you might be able to turn them into brand ambassadors who will champion your cause to their network on a regular basis. And having a few influencers on your side can mean a steady influx of Twitter traffic.
Using keywords effectively is another fruitful way you can get Twitter users to visit your website. If your website deals with New York apartment rentals, for instance, you might want to set up a search that includes the keywords “NYC rental”, “New York apartment” and others. Now, when someone posts a question about this topic, you’ll be able to answer them in real time by directing them to your website. Don’t be afraid to reach out to strangers using this method, but do explain that you discovered them using Twitter’s search.
